SAN JOSE, CA – Today, U.S. Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren (CA-19) announced that the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) will provide the Tech Interactive in San Jose with a $246,528 grant to improve its field trip program.
This funding comes from IMLS’ Museums for America program.
“The Tech Interactive is an outstanding resource in San Jose that provides kids with hands-on opportunities to learn about science, engineering, and mathematics,” said Rep. Lofgren. “I’m proud that federal funding will help the Tech Interactive strengthen its field trips program for K-12 classes. This will provide more local students with engaging STEM learning opportunities.”
This funding will be used by the Tech Interactive to evaluate its virtual and in-person field trip program, including surveying teachers’ perspectives, studying barriers to participation, and updating existing programs. Government funding legislation for Fiscal Year 2022, which Rep. Lofgren supported, provided $27.9 million for the Museums for America program. Under the grant, the Tech Interactive will provide $248,978 in matching funds.
