Azoidis Wins ITF Doubles Title

LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior Dimitrios Azoidis collected his first men’s ITF doubles title after winning the doubles trophy at the Kfar Saba 15k behind four-straight victories.

Pairing up with Menelaos Efstathiou for the tournament, the two only dropped one set en route to the title. Taking on the duo of Adi Dagan and Roi Ginat in the first round, the Red Raider and his partner won the match in straight sets by a score of 7-5, 6-3, to advance to the quarterfinals.

Up next, the two defeated Samer Al Tori and Eduardo Cohen. Winning the first set by a 6-1 score, the Azoidis/Efstathiou pair dropped the next set in a tough breaker, 6-7 (2). Forcing a super tiebreak to move on, Azoidis and his teammate would win the match with a close 10-8 score.

In the semifinals, the pair overtook Lior Goldenberg and Yair Sarouk, 7-5, 6-3, to make a finals appearance where they would face Ron Ellouck and Yuichiro Inui. The duo continued their dominant run as they took home the doubles title with a straight-set victory, 6-4, 7-6 (5).

In addition to winning four matches in doubles, Azoidis claimed his first-round singles match against Gabriele Pennaforti (ATP 1260) by a score of 6-4, 7-6 (4).
