Drone dropping of weapons: NIA raids multiple locations in J&K | India News

JAMMU: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday carried out searches at multiple places in Jammu, including many villages situated along the international border, in connection with dropping of weapons using drones.
NIA sleuths, escorted by local police and CRPF personnel, carried out raids in Kathua, Samba and Jammu districts. Sources in police said NIA also raided the house of an already arrested person in Khatika Talab area of Jammu city.

On July 18, police had arrested one Faisal Muneer from Jammu for his alleged involvement in receiving multiple drone-dropped consignments of arms and ammunition from Pakistan. His involvement had come to the fore during the investigation of two incidents of drone dropping of arms last year. Huge payloads, including sticky bombs, UBGL rounds, M4 rifles and other explosive material were recovered in these cases.
Sources said that during the raid at Faisal’s residence, NIA seized two bags containing documents and other material for further scrutiny. Reports from Kathua and Samba also said that NIA teams raided some villages situated along the international border.
