Duke Travels to Washington for Husky Invitational

BREMERTON, Wash. – Duke men’s golf travels to the West Coast this week for the 2022 Husky Invitational, which begins Monday at the Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton, Wash.

The event will be a homecoming for both Ian Siebers and Ethan Evans, as the two Blue Devils hail from the state of Washington. Siebers, a junior from Bellevue, Wash. will be joined by Evans, a freshman from Mercer Island, Wash. in the starting lineup for Duke.

The 15-team field consists of Duke along with Washington, Oregon, Nevada, San Jose State, Colgate, Utah, Boise State, Oregon State, Seattle, Washington State, Long Beach State, UC Davis, St. Mary’s and USC. Two rounds will be played throughout the day on Monday, followed by a final 18 holes of competition on Tuesday morning.

The full starting lineup for Duke at the Husky Invitational played on the Olympic Course will consist of freshman William Love and his classmate Evans, Siebers and fellow junior Jimmy Zheng and sophomore Kelly Chinn. The Olympic Course will play at 5,847 yards and to a par of 72.

The Blue Devils will also have five individuals competing in the Husky Individual Invitational, played on the Cascade Course, as Luke Sample, John Peters, Cameron Martinez-Stone, Daniel Choi and Daniel Uranga will compete in the 45-player field. The Cascade Course will be 6,401 yards and a par-71.

“This week should provide us a chance to build off last week’s Rod Myers Invitational, our first of ten regular season tournaments,” said head coach Jamie Green. “To be able to have our whole team travel across the country and compete is a unique opportunity and we were glad we could put it on our schedule this year. With no seniors on the squad, it’s great to get everyone on the road, learning and doing what they came to Duke to do – compete.”

Duke is coming off a second-place finish at its season-opening Rod Myers Invitational earlier in September. The Blue Devils’ lineup was led by Love’s 3-under, and Evans also finished at 3-under for the weekend as the top individual of the event. Their 54-hole total of 213 saw the two freshmen finish in tie for sixth place overall. As a team, Duke finished with an 862 (-2) and in solo second place.

The Blue Devils are scheduled to tee off on hole 10 at the Olympic Course alongside San Jose State and Long Beach State, starting at 10:45 ET on Monday morning. Live scoring for the Huksy Invitational will be available here, and the Husky Individual Invitational’s live scoring can be found here.
