PORT CHESTER, NY — Commuters in Westchester County are going to want to allow some extra travel time coming and going over the next two weeks.

The New York State Department of Transportation says that two lanes of Westchester Ave. westbound are scheduled to close, between Abendroth Ave. and U.S. Route 1 (North Main Street), for two weeks.

The lanes will be closed daily, between 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., from Monday, September 19, at 9 a.m. through Friday, September 30, for the movement of equipment.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change, the Department of Transportation said.

The NYSDOT is reminding drivers to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of your driver’s license.
