Preesha Chakraborty, the Young Prodigy Recognized Among the World’s Brightest Minds

In a remarkable achievement, Preesha Chakraborty, a nine-year-old Indian-American student from Warm Spring Elementary School in Fremont, California, has earned a coveted spot on the “world’s brightest” students list by the prestigious Johns Hopkins Centre for Talented Youth (CTY). The recognition stems from her outstanding performance on above-grade-level tests administered to over 16,000 students across 90 countries.

Preesha Chakraborty , a Grade 3 student at Warm Spring Elementary, took the CTY test in Summer 2023, standing out among a global pool of exceptionally talented students. The assessment, which included tests like the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test), ACT (American College Testing), and the School and College Ability Test, identified her as a standout performer deserving of high honors.

Out of the vast pool of students assessed, less than 30 percent qualify each year for either High Honors or Grand Honors/SET based on their test scores. Preesha Chakrabortyremarkable achievement placed her in the Grand Honors category, demonstrating her exceptional abilities in both the verbal and quantitative sections, equivalent to the 99th percentile of advanced Grade 5 performances.

Her success opens the door to over 250 advanced programs offered by Johns Hopkins CTY, spanning mathematics, computer programming, chemistry, physics, reading, and writing for students in grades 2-12. This recognition solidifies Preesha Chakraborty position as an academic prodigy, positioning her for further intellectual challenges and growth.

Beyond her accomplishments with CTY, Preesha holds a lifetime membership in the Mensa Foundation, the world’s oldest high-IQ society. To qualify for Mensa, individuals must score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ, or other approved intelligence test. Preesha achieved this milestone at the age of six, securing the 99th percentile in the nationally recognized NNAT (Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test), designed to assess K-12 students for gifted and talented programs.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Preesha Chakraborty is a well-rounded individual with a passion for various activities. Outside of her studies, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and participating in mixed martial arts, showcasing her diverse interests and talents.

According to her parents, Preesha Chakraborty has always displayed a profound passion for learning and consistently exhibited exceptional academic abilities.
