Rakul Preet Singh opens up on Cuttputlli being criticised for its romance; says, “We made this film for families” : Bollywood News

Though Akshay Kumar and Rakul Preet Singh’s latest release Cuttputlli is a remake, it has received a positive response from a section of the audience. However, as the thriller drama received a mixed response, another section of the audience criticised the film for having a romantic angle. Addressing the same, the leading lady of the film, Rakul Preet Singh, recently broke her silence.

In an interview with Indian Express, the Attack actress said, “There is a certain section of the audience that enjoy (romance, song and dance). We have made this film for families. Indian films are known for the quintessential masala. Today if you say that Telugu cinema is doing well, it is masala that is doing well”, in her response.

The De De Pyaar actress further continued and added, “People want entertainment. People have had tough lives; especially in the last two-three years have been very tough. Families, a large section of our Indian cinema viewers, enjoy the balance. So, if the story is thrilling and intense, a little bit of breather here and there makes it a family watch.”

Interestingly, apart from this, the Runway 34 actress also spoke about her criteria while choosing films. Singh said, “I seek work also. My criteria is a combination of things. Sometimes you want to be a part of the script, sometimes you feel that this script is not about my character but I want to be in that story. You want to work with a certain filmmaker, certain actor. I see what excites me when I hear the film, who I want to associate with.”

Talking about the 31-year-old actress’ professional front, she will be next seen in Sidharth Malhotra and Ajay Devgn’s Thank God. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungamathe actress described the upcoming comedy-drama as when Munnabhai meets Oh My God.
