No. 21 Hilltoppers Travel to Knoxville

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Coming off its sixth-straight win on the season, No. 21 WKU Volleyball will take a midweek roadtrip down south to Knoxville for a midweek matchup at Tennessee – the Tops’ first visit to the Lady Vols since 2009. First serve is set for 5 p.m. CT.

The midweek match from Thompson-Boling Arena will be available to stream on SEC Network+ with Michael Wottreng (play-by-play) and Heather Harrington (analyst) on the call. As is the case for every Hilltopper match this season, all the action will also be available on the radio with Brad Klein on the play-by-play call. The action from Knoxville will be available on ESPN 102.7 FM.

Tennessee leads the all-time series against WKU, 3-0. Most recently, the Lady Vols took a 3-2 match in 2009 over the Red and White, in Knoxville.

UTK is 6-3 on the 2022 campaign, after posting 20-10 in 2021.



TOP STORYLINES

• Wednesday’s match will be the fourth all-time meeting between WKU and UTK; a series that Tennessee leads 3-0.
• WKU is 21st in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll, climbing one spot in the poll for the third-straight week. The Hilltoppers have now been ranked in 11 of the last 12 seasons and received votes for 13-straight campaigns.
• WKU Volleyball is more accessible than ever with radio broadcasts for every match. The Tops are 1 of just 10 Division I Volleyball programs that currently have live radio for home and away matches.
• WKU has held opponents to an average hitting clip of just .147 this season, Tennessee comes in at a .252 average.
• This Hilltoppers have won 27 sets — six straight — and have only dropped seven sets all season, with three coming against Louisville: the Tops’ lone loss in 2022.
• WKU has been predicted to win the conference title in the Conference USA Preseason Poll voted by the league’s coaches. Paige Briggs, Katie Isenbargerand Lauren Matthews were all selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Matthews was tabbed Preseason Player of the Year. After meeting in last year’s tournament championship, Rice was predicted to finish second.
• Paige Briggs leads the team in kills this season at 126 while operating at a .304 hitting clip.
• Wednesday’s match will be the squad’s third contest away from home on the season (four neutral) for WKU, in which the team owns an 2-0 record.
