Bangladesh-based online travel agent ShareTrip has received $500,000 in funding
from venture capital company Startup Bangladesh Limited.

Founded in 2014, ShareTrip says it has served more than half
a million customers from across Bangladesh, and more than 5,000 agents work for
the brand. The company launched an Android and iOS mobile app that lets people book their flight or hotel room or select a trip from thousands of vacation packages.

ShareTrip points to an “immense opportunity” to digitize
operations.

Sadia Haque, ShareTrip’s co-founder and CEO, says the
company aims to revolutionize the domestic hotel industry, “which is still at a
very nascent stage in Bangladesh.”

“We are working with advanced technology to bring in
innovations and product developments not only to enhance our product but also
to ensure a seamless experience for our customers. Through innovation and
superior customer service, we aim to soar even higher,” Haque says.

ShareTrip also says it plans to expand into the international arena and encourage
more foreign investment.

“When a great idea is turned into reality with skilled
manpower and proper funding, the result is an incredible success,” says Sami
Ahmed, managing director of Startup Bangladesh Limited. “I believe that through
innovation and expertise, ShareTrip will establish itself in the global market
as well.”
