As far as sandboxes go, the one found in Saints Row is a lot bigger than most. The game boasts one of the largest open-world maps around and players will need to explore nearly every inch of it as they make their way through the game’s main story. Driving and flying with the wingsuit are great ways to do so and both can be an awful lot of fun. Sometimes, however, players will want to fast travel in order to save themselves some time.
Unfortunately, the team over at Deep Silver Volition didn’t do a particularly good job of explaining how exactly fast travel works in Saints Rowwith players pretty much left to figure things out for themselves. Initially, they’ll only be able to fast travel to the apartment, though, after a little while, they’ll gain the ability to unlock new fast travel locations by using the camera on their smartphone.
How to Fast Travel in Saints Row
In order to fast travel in Saints Rowplayers will need to open up the map and scroll to one of the purple “Headquarters” icons. From there, it’s a simple case of pressing the X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) button twice to initiate fast travel. After a short loading screen, players will find themselves at their desired location. If they want to go anywhere other than the gang’s apartment, however, they’ll need to unlock some new fast travel points.
How to Unlock New Fast Travel Points in Saints Row
Saints Row players can unlock new fast travel locations by heading to the yellow “Fast Travel Photo” icons on the map and then taking a photograph of the landmark there using the camera on their smartphone. Unfortunately, the icons will only show up once players get within a certain range of the landmark locations, so players will need to explore the map pretty thoroughly in order to find them all.
Once within range of a landmark, players should press up on the D-Pad to open the camera app on their phone and then frame the landmark in the center of the screen, ensuring that they’re neither too close nor far away. The viewfinder will turn green once the framing is perfect, at which point, players can press the X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) button to take a photo and unlock the fast travel location for future use.
It’s worth noting that even though both are classed as discoveries and marked with yellow icons on the map, “Fast Travel Photo” and “Photo Hunt” icons aren’t the same thingwith the latter not becoming fast travel points upon being completed. Thankfully, players should be able to tell the difference between the two pretty easily, as the icon for fast travel landmarks shows a train carriage rather than a camera and a photo.
Saints Row is available now for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
