The fashion sector employs a large group of Fijians at all stages – from production, design and marketing, Minister for Commerce, Trade and Tourism Faiyaz Koya said while opening the Great White Sharks Swimming Club – Fashion Show held last weekend in Lautoka.

“The Fijian fashion industry has enjoyed great success both nationally and internationally,” he said. Mr Koya said fashion had always been a form of universal language with constructing identities and changing how people felt and acted.

“Fashion is dynamic and in constant change, especially in the globalised world we live in.”

He also acknowledged a number of fashion designers who were present for bracing the many challenges faced during the pandemic.

“Your support as an industry is a great Fijian way to get together to raise money for our children taking part in the Pan Pacific Competition in Hawaii and the school swimming competition in either New Zealand or Australia, next year.”
