A night to remember

The Kiggins Theatre presents Science on Tap, “Making Memories: Using Neuroscience to Enhance Teaching and Learning,” at 7 tonight at 1011 Main St., Vancouver. Neuroscientist Dr. Mark Pitzer offers a humorous but scientifically sound discussion of the brain’s learning networks, emotional connections and how the visual and motor pathways influence what we process. Old and new

The annual Camas Vintage & Art Faire returns to downtown Camas from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday along Fourth Avenue and Birch Street near Camas Antiques. This event features 60 vendors including artists selling paintings, fiber art, ceramics, upcycled works, photography, jewelry and metal work, as well as merchants selling vintage, antique and repurposed items. Flying high

Join members of the Clark County Radio Control Society at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, 17402 N.E. Delfel Road, Ridgefield, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday to fly radio controlled airplanes. “Discover RC Flying” is for all ages, and families are encouraged to find out more about this sport and the club. The event includes demonstrations and hands-on experience with a flight simulator and radio control flight instructor. Free items will be given to kids under 12. Enter a free raffle to win a beginner kit. A free lunch of hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided.

Deep roots

The Clark County Genealogical Society will host its 50th anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the genealogical society library, 3205 N.E. 52nd St., Vancouver. The event, a 70s-themed costume party, will be outdoors rain or shine. Lunch will be provided, including hot dogs, side dishes and cookies. Compete in the costume contest, tour the library and meet expert genealogists. View the “Gallery of Grandmothers,” featuring photographs submitted by people all over Clark County. Dandelion Teahouse and Apothecary will host a Block Party and Doggy Fashion Show 4-8 p.m. Saturday on Seventh Street between Washington and Main. The event includes vendors, activities and (of course) dogs. The main event is the doggy fashion show at 7 p.m. and the theme is “Garden Tea Party.” Each dog will have a turn to trot down the runway and show off its costume.
