Texas Tech, New Mexico fight to 1-1 in women’s soccer

Macy Schultz scored her first goal of the season to help Texas Tech earn a 1-1 draw against defending Mountain West Conference champion New Mexico on Thursday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex.   Schultz converted off a pass from Macy Blackburn six minutes into the match, and Tech held UNM scoreless until Jadyn Edwards found the back of the net for UNM in the 39th minute.

Blackburn has all three assists on Tech’s three goals this season.  Tech goalkeeper Madison White finished with two saves.

Both teams are 1-1-1.

Tech is back in action at 9 p.m. CDT Saturday at Cal State Fullerton.

LCU men’s soccer

Pablo Galietero-Diez recorded a hat trick and an assist as Lubbock Christian University routed Adams State 6-1 at home Thursday night in the Chaparrals’ season opener.

Galietero-Diez scored three of the first four goals, in the 18th, 35th and 50th minutes. Tariq Bakkali, Hugo Staunton and Lucas Carli scored the other goals as the Chaps built a 6-0 lead.

Adams State dodged the shutout when Aidyn Ogle scored in the 73rd minute.
