You are listening to the Expresso Entertainment Update. Here is the latest news from the world of Bollywood brought to you by The Indian Express.
“We begin with the trailer of Goodbye starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna, which is out and it appears to be a dysfunctional family drama, with a hint of comedy. The three-minute trailer gives a sneak peek of the story where Neena Gupta’s character, who plays Bachchan’s wife and Mandanna’s mother, has passed away. Even though the premise sounds tragic, the film deals with the same with comedy.
Much like Pagglait and Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi, the film introduces us to various characters whose dialogues might sound inappropriate if presented independently but make complete sense when said in the context of their surroundings.
Goodbye marks Rashmika’s debut in Hindi films. The actor was last seen in the much-appreciated Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise ”
“Actor Amitabh Bachchan launched the trailer of his upcoming film Goodbye, with co-stars Rashmika Mandanna, Neena Gupta and Sunil Grover in Mumbai, on Tuesday.
Responding to a few questions posed by the media, the actor spoke about having back-to-back releases. He was last seen in Ajay Devgn’s Runway 34. Other than Goodbye, he will also be seen in Brahmastra which releases this week.
Bachchan, a part of the film industry for over five decades, said, “”In our time, four films would release in a month, every Friday we would have a new film. I hope people will watch this film and love it. I hope people get a chance to watch it in theatres and on OTT too.””
“Meanwhile, at the trailer launch of Goodbye, Rashmika Mandanna spoke about receiving a lot of love for her film with Allu Arjun, Pushpa: The Rise, and becoming a ‘national crush. She also gave an update on when she’ll start shooting the much-anticipated sequel, Pushpa: The Rule.
On working with Allu Arjun in Pushpa and Amitabh Bachchan in Goodbye, she said, “I am living my dream. With Allu Arjun sir, I start Pushpa 2 in a couple of days. But right now, having this trailer out in front of the audience with Bachchan sir, what can I say…”
Goodbye is directed by Vikas Bahl and also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Neena Gupta, and Ashish Vidyarthi. The film will release on October 7”
“Moving on,
Hrithik Roshan’s Vikram Vedha is one of the most anticipated Bollywood films. Also starring Saif Ali Khan, the Pushkar-Gayathri directorial is the Hindi adaptation of their 2017 Tamil neo-noir thriller with the same name, which featured R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles. After unveiling quite an interesting teaser, the makers are set to release the trailer of Vikram Vedha on September 8.
On Tuesday, Hrithik took to Instagram to share that the makers are offering a trailer preview for fans. He shared that people who are interested to be a part of it can send their pictures with the Vikram Vedha sign. He displayed the same to the camera, showing a double V sign with both hands.”
“Samantha Ruth Prabhu was completely in awe of Ranveer Singh’s energy when she appeared on Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan season 7. She had revealed that the duo had recently shot a promotional campaign together. The Family Man actor said she was “Ranveer-ified for life.” Now, the advertisement featuring the duo is out and it has Samantha playing a strict traffic cop with Ranveer’s rule-breaking bike rider.
Responding to Samantha’s compliments, Ranveer told Bollywood Hungama, “Hopefully, we’ll have a more in-depth collaboration in the future because I think she is a wonderful person, a very warm person, lovely energy and an immensely talented person. We did an ad film together. There’s where we met and engaged for the first time.”””
“In other news,
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Brahmastra is all set to release on September 9. The film has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with a U/A certificate.
The fantasy saga is clocked at 166 minutes, making it a pretty lengthy film. Early trends suggest that the film’s opening day collection could mint around Rs 18-22 crore.
A previous report in Bollywood Hungama suggested that the film’s budget is around Rs 410 crore. Apart from pan-Indian films such as RRR, 2.0, Saaho, and a few others, the most expensive Hindi film ever made has been YRF’s 2018 period adventure Thugs of Hindostan, which was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 310 crore.”
”
Rakesh Roshan turned 73 on Tuesday. Through his many decades in the film industry, he has seen it all. The actor-director experienced severe health issues when he was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 but his battle with the disease made him mentally stronger and the veteran has spoken about it on various occasions.
Recalling his diagnosis, the actor-director said, “It all began with a blister which refused to go; it was a small one – no pain, no itching. I went to meet an ENT surgeon who advised me a biopsy. I was at my son, Hrithik’s house when I got the call that I had tested positive. It was December 15, 2018.” ”
