Kangana Ranaut Powerlessly Slapped by CISF Personnel at Chandigarh Airport.
Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was involved in a shocking incident on Thursday at Chandigarh airport when she was slapped by a female personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Sources informed the Hindustan Times (HT) about this unexpected confrontation, which has stirred quite a controversy.
According to the source, the altercation began during a security check. Kangana Ranaut, the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) from Mandi, refused to place her phone in the tray, leading to a confrontation. When she allegedly pushed the security personnel, the CISF woman personnel retaliated by slapping her. This incident occurred shortly before Ranaut departed for Delhi on a Vistara flight at 3 pm.
The CISF officer in question, who hails from Sultanpur Lodhi in Punjab’s Kapurthala, is reportedly the sister of farmer leader Sher Singh Malhiwal. Following the incident, the CISF suspended the woman constable and lodged a complaint against her at the local police station, seeking an FIR for the assault on BJP leader and actor Kangana Ranaut. A senior CISF officer confirmed these actions.
In a video message released after the incident, Kangana Ranaut provided her account of what transpired at the Chandigarh airport. “I am getting a lot of phone calls, from the media as well as my well-wishers. First of all, I am safe, I am perfectly fine. The incident that happened today at Chandigarh airport was during the security check.
As soon as I came out after the security check, the lady in the second cabin, a CISF security staff came from the side, hit me on my face and started abusing me. When I asked her why she did so, she said that she supports farmers’ protest. I am safe but I am concerned about the terrorism and extremism that is increasing in Punjab,” she stated.
This attack on Kangana Ranaut occurred just days after her significant victory in the Lok Sabha elections from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. The National Award-winning actor successfully defeated her Congress rival, Vikramaditya Singh, by a margin of 74,755 votes, according to the Election Commission’s website. This election marked Ranaut’s first foray into politics, where she garnered 537,022 votes.
The Mandi Lok Sabha seat saw ten candidates contesting, with a voter turnout of 73.15 percent from its 1,377,173 registered voters. In a social media post, Kangana Ranaut expressed her gratitude to her supporters, writing, “Heartfelt gratitude to all the people of Mandi for this love and trust… This victory belongs to all of you, this is the victory of your trust in Prime Minister Modi and BJP, this is the victory of Sanatan and in the honour of Mandi.” She also captioned her post on X with “Mandi ki sansad.”
Kangana Ranaut journey from an acclaimed actor to a politician has been notable. She made her acting debut at 17 with Anurag Basu’s 2006 film “Gangster” and received widespread acclaim for her roles in films such as ‘Queen’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, ‘Manikarnika’, ‘Fashion’, and ‘Pangaa’.
Her transition into politics has been marked by her outspoken support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government’s policies, including the Citizenship (Amendment) Act and the farmers’ protests. Her prominence was further highlighted when she was invited to the grand consecration ceremony of the idol of Ram Lalla at Ayodhya’s Ram temple.
The incident at the Chandigarh airport has ignited a debate, drawing attention to the increasing tensions and polarization in the region. While Ranaut’s political career seems to be gaining momentum, this altercation with a CISF personnel underscores the challenges and controversies that public figures often encounter. As investigations proceed, the repercussions of this event on Ranaut’s political and public life remain to be seen.
This unexpected incident not only highlights the volatile nature of security interactions at high-profile locations like airports but also raises questions about the professional conduct of security personnel and the broader implications of such conflicts in the public eye. As the story develops, it is likely to attract significant media attention and public discourse, reflecting the complex dynamics of celebrity, politics, and security in contemporary India.
