SUPERIOR — While the recent rain put a damper on outdoor activities for most, photographer

Jed Carlson took a walk through Billings Park

between rain showers and found lots of activity among the animals there.

Washburn artist Jamey Penney-Ritter said she likes “to say it’s the biggest collection of Northern Wisconsin travel posters in the history of the world,”

referring to her work at Bemused Gallery & Studio.

The UWS grad started designing and selling the hyperlocal posters eight years ago, with their popularity steadily rising. Visitors to Duluth International Airport can see a display featuring 32 of her prints.

She’s designed more than 160 posters, from local favorites like the Aerial Lift Bridge and the Madeline Island Ferry to niche landmarks like the Gordon Fire Tower.

Earlier this month, the Superior School District filed a lawsuit in Douglas County Circuit Court against Kraus-Anderson Construction Company and one of its subcontractors.

The suit seeks to recover $247,534 in costs

the district had to pay for after construction work at Cooper Elementary School was delayed because of an April 2018 fire.
