CHANDIGARH: Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday announced that his state and Haryana had agreed to name the Chandigarh International Airport in Mohali after freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
“Chandigarh’s International Airport will be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh. Punjab and Haryana have arrived at a consensus on this. Today, held a meeting with Haryana deputy CM Dushyant Chautala on this issue,” Mann, who heads Punjab’s AAP government, tweeted.
After the meeting, Chautala said Bhagat Singh who inspired youths of every generation. Chautala said since Haryana had an equal share in the construction of the new airport, the name of “Panchkula” city should be added to its name. He said a recommendation on behalf of Haryana has been sent to Punjab government, adding the same request would be sent to the Centre. tnn
