IGN can exclusively reveal the first full trailer for the upcoming sequel series to the classic time-travel program Quantum Leap, which premieres on September 19th at 10 pm on NBC and Peacock. It will also stream on Peacock. You can watch the trailer via the player above or the embed below.
Set roughly thirty years after the events of the original series, the sequel follows physicist Ben Song (Raymond Lee) whose team is out to restart the Quantum Leap project and gain an understanding of both the machine and its creator, the long-lost Dr. Sam Beckett (played on the original series by Scott Bakula).
“Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it,” according to the series’ official synopsis. “At Ben’s side throughout his leaps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear. She’s a decorated Army veteran who brings level-headed precision to her job.”
Ghostbusters’ Ernie Hudson plays Herbert “Magic” Williams, described as the “no-nonsense career military man” in charge of this secret operation. The headquarters team includes “Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park), who runs the Artificial Intelligence unit ‘Ziggy,’ and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee), who heads up digital security for the project.”
Each episode of Quantum Leap sees Ben leap from life to life, righting wrongs along the way, while the home team strives to solve the mystery behind Ben’s leap and bring him home – or lose him forever.
Quantum Leap’s behind-the-scenes talent includes writers-executive producers Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt. Executive producers include Don Bellisario, Deborah Pratt, Ryan Lindenberg, Robert Hull, and Martin Gero. Universal Television produces in association with I Have an Idea! Entertainment, Belisarius Productions, and Quinn’s House Productions.
