Virginia Tech has gone international for their latest commitment as three-star DE Ishmael Findlayter of Canada has chosen the Hokies.
Findlayter chose the Hokies over offers from Arizona State, Vanderbilt, Ohio, Central Michigan, and South Dakota. He is Tech’s second DE commit this cycle along with three-star Jason Abbey out of Richmond while he is also the second commit with international ties along with three-star Hannes Hammer who is from Germany but plays high school football at Roanoke’s North Cross School.
He is currently ranked as the top Canadian recruit by both 247 Sports and On3.
Findlayter had this to say about why he chose the Hokies.
“The coaching staff. I really believe I can become the player I aspire to be under their coaching, and the facilities and school were amazing,” Findlayter said.
His commitment comes just over a week after he received an offer from Virginia Tech during a visit to Blacksburg. That visit proved to be a big factor in his decision to choose the Hokies as he shared with us.
“It was big getting to know the coaches and seeing how they are was big,” Findlayter said.
We will have more as this story develops.
