Schengen Visa: Voluminous paperwork for a Schengen visa astounds Twitter users

Ever tried for a travel visa to any of the Western countries? If yes, you will feel for this person.
Twitter user Saptarshi Prakash, whose bio identifies him as director of design at Swiggy, recently shared a picture of the paperwork he needed to submit for a Schengen visa.
“Applying for a tourist visa to one of the most developed countries of the world. This is the amount of paper I m supposed to carry to prove that I have the money to stay there and come back,” he wrote.

Later he clarified that those were bank statements, ITR and payslips along with other documents.
“It’s not bank statement alone. Bank statement, 3 years of ITR, Payslips, and tons of other things. Sure, it includes those Swiggy transactions as well ?? I wonder when they will make it digital,” he quipped.

The post has attracted wide attention. Some Twitter users however claimed that they did not have to submit such voluminous amounts of paper for the visa.

The Schengen area includes 26 European countries that have officially abolished all passports. You will need a Schengen visa to travel to these countries for tourism or business purposes if you are staying for less than 90 days. If you are planning to study, work, or live for more than 90 days, then you have to apply for a national visa.
