NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he was overjoyed and proud to see the nation’s enthusiastic response to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign that aims to have 20 crore households and institutions unfurl the national flag from August 13-15 to celebrate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, launched to mark 75 years of India’s independence. “We are seeing record participation from people across different walks of life. This is a great way to mark Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Do also share your photo with the Tiranga on https://harghartiranga.com,” the PM tweeted as he shared several glimpses of the celebrations across the country.
Sharing the illumination of Ujani Dam at Solapur in Maharashtra in tricolour, the PM said it was a great mix of “jal shakti and desh bhakti”.
“Majestic! The people of Arunachal Pradesh are known for their unwavering spirit of patriotism,” the PM said, while sharing a tweet of chief minister Pema Khandu highlighting the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ celebration at Seppa town in east Kameng district where the people took out a foot march with a 300-feet Tricolour.
Modi also shared glimpses from the coasts and border areas including a 75-feet Tiranga unfurled at the southernmost tip of India at Kanyakumari.
The PM appreciated the hundreds of children who took part in the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ celebrations organised at Leh and Ladakh by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
PM Modi’s mother Hiraba, who entered the 100th year of her life in June this year, distributed national flags to children at her residence on the outskirts of Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
Home and cooperation minister Amit Shah also joined the celebrations. “Tiranga is our pride. It unites and inspires everyone Indian. On PM Narendra Modi-ji’s clarion call of Har Ghar Tiranga, today hoisted a Tiranga at my residence in New Delhi and paid tributes to our valorous heroes who sacrificed everything for the Motherland,” Shah tweeted after hoisting the national flag at his residence.
