Ghaziabad: A fire broke out on Friday morning in a flat on the sixth floor of Aditya Mega City, located in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad. Fortunately, all residents were safely evacuated, and no casualties were reported. The fire, which had the potential to escalate, was brought under control within an hour by the prompt action of the fire brigade.
Chief Fire Officer Rahul Kumar, shared details of the incident: “Fire Station Vaishali received information in the morning about a fire in Aditya Mega City, Indirapuram. Four fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and found a fire in a flat on the sixth floor. The fire brigade immediately started extinguishing the fire by opening the pipeline, and after one hour, the fire was completely controlled.”
He further added, “The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained, and there has been no loss of life.”
RWA Commended for Support, But Fire Safety Neglected
Residents praised the Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of Aditya Mega City for fully supporting the firefighters during the emergency. However, serious questions have been raised about the lack of fire safety regulations in the society.
Speaking to reporters, residents expressed their frustration, alleging that the current and previous RWAs had ignored fire safety concerns for years. “Since 2009, none of the RWA members who have held power have prioritized fire safety regulations,” a resident shared.
For the past three years, residents claim to have repeatedly urged the current RWA to implement basic fire safety measures, but their pleas were allegedly ignored. Attempts to reach the spokespersons of Aditya Mega City for a response were unsuccessful.
A Wake-Up Call for Indirapuram Societies
Aditya Mega City is regarded as the second-best society in Indirapuram, but the fire incident has revealed significant gaps in fire safety preparedness. Experts and residents alike emphasized the urgent need for all societies to strictly adhere to fire safety regulations to avoid such incidents in the future.
While the timely action of the fire department averted a major disaster, this incident serves as a wake-up call for other societies to ensure the safety of their residents through proactive planning and compliance with safety norms.
