Football: Gruber and Baker lead ground attack to push Sussex Tech past Parsippany

Andrew Baker and Brian Gruber each finished with two rushing touchdowns in Sussex Tech’s 25-13 home-opener victory over Parsippany, in Sparta.

Baker started off Sussex Tech’s scoring by punching in a game-tying 11-yard touchdown in the second quarter. Gruber recorded a 17-yard touchdown to give Sussex Tech (1-0) a 13-12 lead, its first of the game, heading into the locker room for halftime.

Gruber rumbled in a 42-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter and Baker tacked on a nine-yard rushing score in the third quarter.

Sheldon Agyemang and Dyland Wang each had one rushing touchdown for Parsippany (0-1) in the opening half.

The Mustangs will take on Wallkill Valley in a road tilt next Wednesday, while the Red Hawks will next take the field in a home game against Whippany Park on Friday, Sept. 9.
