Freshman WR Tucker Holloway impressing
[ad_1]
Every morning throughout his senior year of high school, Virginia Tech wide receiver Tucker Holloway would make an hour, or more depending on traffic, commute from his home to Rabun-Gap High School, which is located just across the Georgia Border.
Holloway transferred from a small-town North Carolina school that placed him as the center of the offense. A quarterback working to disguise reads as he orchestrated a triple-option offense down the field, the 6-foot 2-inch speedster wanted a different opportunity and wanted a chance to be discovered on a Power Five radar.
After transferring to Rabun-Gap, Holloway received the college attention he was looking for. Virginia Tech, Auburn, Florida State, Iowa State, and others came calling.
He took official visits to Virginia Tech and Iowa State and he worked out for several SEC programs. At the end of the day, he opted to enroll at Virginia Tech where he has continued to showcase his talents on a higher stage.
Since arriving at Virginia Tech, Holloway has showcased his speed and has refined his technique on the field, but what impresses Brent Pry the most is just his overall approach to the program.
“Tucker is the one we have noticed the most,” Pry said in a post-practice press conference video. “He’s got a great approach. He’s a hard worker. Good ball skills. He learns it well. He’s got a chance. He is one of those guys that if he keeps developing, he’s got a chance to help us.”
At the wide receiver position, Virginia Tech continues to search for depth after losing two productive receivers to the NFL (Tre Turner) and the transfer portal (Tayvion Robinson). Spring additions of Jadan Blue (Temple) and Stephen Gosnell (North Carolina) certainly help but Holloway’s emergence could pay immediate dividends this fall.
