Shinde will handle the urban development ministry, while his deputy Devendra Fadnavis will take over the home and finance ministries.
The CM will also be handling the environment, transport, disaster management, information and public relations, relief and rehab, and other ministries.
Fadnavis will additionally take responsibility for law and justice, housing and energy portfolios.
BJP ministers Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil got revenue, animal husbandry & dairy; Sudhir Mungantiwar got forest, cultural affairs & fisheries; and Chandrakant Patil got higher, technical education, textile industry & parliamentary work.
From the Shinde camp of Shiv Sena rebels, Deepak Kesarkar is the new minister for school education, while Abdul Sattar has been given the agriculture portfolio; and Shambhuraj Desai got state excise duty.
Cabinet expansion
The Maharashtra Cabinet was expanded on August 9, more than five weeks after the new government was sworn in on June 30 this year.
Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari administered the oath of office to 18 MLAs (nine each from the Shinde camp and the BJP).
From the Shinde camp, Uday Samant, Dada Bhuse, Sandipan Bhumre, Rajendra Patil Yadravkar, Shambhuraj Desai, Gulabrao Patil, Sanjay Shirsat, Deepak Kesarkar and Bachchu Kadu are part of the names who administered the oath today.
Most of them were part of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadigovernment led by Uddhav Thackeray, which was toppled by SHinde in June.
From the BJP, Chandrakant Patil, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Girish Mahajan, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Suresh Khade, Atul Save, Mangalprabhat Lodha, Vijaykumar Gavit and Ravindra Chavan were named as ministers.
