Phogat aides Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singharrested on Friday in connection with her murder, were, meanwhile, remanded in police custody for 10 days by a local court. People have been stopped by police from accessing the first floor of Curlies, where Phogat and the accused were seen partying and where she was given methamphetamine. Police claimed that Sangwan had purchased the drug from Gaonkar.
Police said 2.2gm of meth was found in the Curlies toilet on Friday night, and that they arrested Nunes because the drug was found there. “We have registered a narcotics case,” Anjuna PI Prashal Dessai said. The drug had been kept there by Sangwan, police claimed.
Seeking 14 days’ custody, Anjuna police told the court of the judicial magistrate first class that they want to verify whether the two men had intended to commit the murder, take over her properties and financial assets and end her political career, as alleged by Phogat’s brother, Rinku Dhaka, in his complaint.
Goa police claimed that during probe, Sangwan disclosed in the presence of police panchas that he, Phogat and Singh came to Goa and were staying at a Vagator resort. They then procured MDMA from the room boy. Sangvan and Singh paid Rs 5,000 and Rs 7,000, respectively. “All three of them snorted MDMA in the hotel and then proceeded to Curlies,” police told the court.
