Deputy superintendent of police Jivba Dalvi said left-overs from the drugs, which were given to her at Curlies Restaurant in Anjuna, were seized from its washroom.
“The drugs given to her have been identified as methamphetamine,” Dalvi said.
They were supplied to her personal assistant Sudhir oar and another aide Sukhwinder Singh — both arrested earlier — by alleged drug peddler Dattaprasad Gaonkar, nabbed on Saturday. Gaonkar worked as a room boy at Hotel Grand Leoney Resort in Anjuna where Phogat and others were staying.
Police have so far arrested the owner of the Curlies Restaurant, Edwin Nunes, Gaonkar, Singh and Sagwan. While Singh and Sagwan are charged with murder, Nunes and Gaonkar are booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
Sagwan and Singh were accompanying Phogat, also a popular TikTok star who hailed from Haryana, to Goa. Both have been sent to 10-day police custody.
Police said that the narcotics substance recovered from the toilet of Curlies was kept by Sangwan who has confessed to the crime. He has reportedly told police that he and Singh had taken Phogat to Curlies on the pretext of partying, where he mixed the substance in drinking water and forced her to consume it.
The Goa Police has sealed the first floor of Curlies where Haryana BJP leader Phogat and the accused were seen partying.
