Top Hollywood fashion movies that we all adore

One of these fashion-focused movies is what we watch when we want a small escape wrapped in hand-beaded chiffon and duchess satin, and we’re not just talking about the clothing. Fashion movies are our addiction because they give us the chance to visit the revered ateliers of our favourite designers, walk the runway, and sit at the editor’s desk. For those of us who get a rush every time we see a stunning garment or the ideal shoe.

Whether it’s a documentary or a delightful little work of fiction, these films take us to a different place where no one goes to the airport in pyjamas.

Unzipped

Given his enormous personality, it makes sense that Isaac Mizrahi would star in a 1990s documentary about himself. All of the attractive supermodels who were friends with Isaac at the time, including a young Kate Moss, participate in the film. Watch it as a #TBT to relive Naomi, Cindy, and Linda Evangelista’s heyday.

I and Dior

Designer Raf Simons, the subject of this film, just left the Dior fashion business, where he had served as chief designer for almost four years. Although Simons created every collection the house displayed, a team of incredibly skilled designers at the Dior atelier work to make those thoughts come to life in such a stunning way that watching them glide down the runway may make you tear up.

Prada is worn by The Devil

What kind of compilation of fashion movies would this be without The Devil Wears Prada? For good reason—humorous, it’s astute, and pure eye delight for any fashion enthusiast—it has become a cult classic. Even ten years after its publication, Andy’s Chanel ensembles and Miranda Priestly’s assortment of outrageous coats and bags continue to excite us.

The upcoming movie Ocean’s 8 about a jewel heist, starring Sandra Bullock, Rihanna, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, and many more fierce women, isn’t quite a fashion movie per, but we’re counting it since the theft actually occurs at Fashion Prom, otherwise known as the Met Gala. A celebrity wouldn’t wear a $150 million necklace anywhere else but the Met Gala, anyway. Anna Wintour, editor of Vogue, Alexander Wang, Kim Kardashian West, Kendall, Kylie, and Serena Williams all make cameo appearances in the film.
