PATNA: Taking a jibe at Independence Day announcement by CM Nitish Kumar of generating 10 lakh jobs and creation of additional 10 lakh employment opportunities, poll strategist turned political activist Prashant Kishor on Wednesday said he will accept Nitish as his leader and withdraw his ongoing Jan Suraj campaignif even 5-10 people get jobs.
Kishor, who is touring the state under his Jan Suraj Campaign, said at a public meet at Samastipur that the Mahagathbandhan government will not survive for long and it will fall apart before the upcoming general elections. He also claimed that such sudden change in alliance politics will happen several times till the next assembly elections in Bihar in 2025.
“Nitish ji is sitting (on the chair) after putting ‘Fevicol’ and allies keep changing. It is the sixth attempt in the last 10 years to remain in the government and still there is no stability. Besides, Bihar continues to remain at the bottom on most parameters related to development,” Kishor said.
Taking a dig at the announcement of millions of jobs first by deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and then by CM Nitish this Independence Day, Kishor said: “If Mahagathbandhan government will manage to give 10 lakh jobs over the next one year or two, I will withdraw my campaign in their support. It is a mere gimmick to fool people. Where will they get the finances for paying salaries to 10 lakh people?”
He added: “The government is unable to pay even the current government job holders. The contractual teachers aren’t paid salaries for six months and they are talking about 10 lakh jobs. Nevertheless, if at all they manage to provide 20 lakh jobs, then I would be the happiest person.”
Kishor, who announced his Jan Suraj campaign on May 5, said politics in Bihar changed “180 degrees” within three months of his arrival in the state. “They were saying what equations I will apply here. Hasn’t the politics here changed by 180 degrees in three months. You never know how things will change in the future. Let me tell you all that things will change many more times before the next assembly elections.”
He added: “Such volatility will persist because people have not given clear mandate to any of these parties. Attempt was made to run the government by making random arrangements and it did not work. Similar attempt has now been made here in Bihar and it would fail here as well.”
“It is the same NDA government elected in 2005, which was given mandate by the people and it did very good work. But those who do not have the mandate and still form the government somehow will never get the trust of people.”
