Doggy Parton: Dolly Has Fashion Line for Dogs

Your dog works “9 to 5” being your best friend, so why not reward her with some fun, flashy accessories? Singer and style icon Dolly Parton, 76, just launched an Amazon-based canine fashion line called Doggy Parton that features clothes, toys, collars, leashes, and more.
She announced this line on the Doggy Parton Instagram page Wednesday, August 31. The page also features an image of her “god-dog” Billy The Kid sporting a platinum blonde wig (which is, of course, part of the line) while being blow-dried by Dolly herself. Billy is a French bulldog who belongs to Dolly’s manager and the CEO of CTK Management, Danny Nozell. He told People that ever since Dolly and Billy met, they shared a “bond that can’t be broken.” Billy’s cuteness, along with his famous best friend, has garnered him over 40,000 followers on Instagram.
In a statement, Parton told shoppers, “Puppy Love was my very first record and six decades later, my love for pets is stronger than ever. This inspired me to start my own line of [dog fashion] with a little ‘Dolly’ flair.” Parton also notes that “part of the proceeds will support Willa B Farms, a rescue where animals in need find never-ending love. Don’t we all need that?” Yes, Dolly, we do!
Doggy Parton, partnering with SportPet Designs, offers more than 20 items in its collection, including feather-lined pink cowgirl hats, beaded butterfly necklaces, and even squeaky leopard-print high heel chew toys. These items reflect Dolly’s sense of humor and self-awareness: She once responded to criticism over her hyper-feminine, glitzy persona by saying, “I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb … and I also know I’m not blonde.”
It makes sense that Dolly Parton would foray into puppy fashion, since she is both a dog lover and a style icon. In 2014, she used her huge Twitter following as a platform to help find a home for a stray dog she discovered at the Glastonbury Music Festival, even offering to bring the pup home herself. She has always turned heads with her own colorful, rhinestone-studded outfits, while still maintaining the importance of confidence and recognizing the connection between inner and outer beauty. In 2017, she tweeted: “When I’m feeling a little low, I put on my favorite high heels to stand a little taller. #dollyism.”
Fashion is obviously not the only arena in which Dolly’s made a mark. Parton has mastered the art of being over-the-top while still remaining humble and kind, in addition to being immensely talented. She has a noted history of philanthropy, donating to and promoting charitable causes. She knows that everyone is valuable — as Dolly says“Find out who you are and do it on purpose,” even if who you are is a dog.
Your pup “Will Always Love You,” so why not return the love with a brand new leash/collar set?
