Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh — In a shocking incident that has stunned a local village, a man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his father, sister, and niece over a property dispute and concealing their bodies in a well. The gruesome crime occurred in Bisanai village under the Mauaima police station area.

The Victims and the Dispute

The victims have been identified as:

  • Ram Singh (55), the father

  • Sadhana (21), the sister

  • Aastha (14), the niece

The accused, Mukesh Patel, was reportedly enraged after his father transferred a significant portion of family land to Mukesh’s younger brother, Mukund. This ongoing dispute escalated into violence.

Discovery of the Crime

After the three went missing on January 2, 2026, Mukund filed a missing persons report, suspecting his brother’s involvement. Police launched a search and discovered the bodies hidden under straw in an old well near the family home.

Sequence of the Murders

Investigations and the accused’s confession reveal that Mukesh attacked his father on the night of January 2. When his sister and niece tried to intervene, he assaulted all three with an axe. Under cover of dense fog, he transported the bodies on his motorcycle and dumped them in the well.

Arrest and Evidence

Police arrested Mukesh near the district court area. During the search, they recovered:

  • The axe believed to be the murder weapon

  • country-made pistol and two cartridges

An FIR has been registered under relevant murder and disposal of body sections of the Indian Penal Code. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Community Shock and Police Response
