Bagaha, West Champaran was struck by tragedy on Thursday as two separate hit-and-run road accidents claimed two lives and left one person in serious condition, prompting urgent police action and community outcry over road safety.
First Incident: Fatal Hit-and-Run Near Dhobi Ghatwa
The first crash occurred late Thursday night near Dhobi Ghatwa on a busy main road. An unidentified vehicle, reportedly at high speed, struck a pedestrian, a man around 30 years old, who was crossing the road. The victim suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have yet to establish his identity and are appealing to the public for help. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area in an effort to trace the fleeing vehicle.
Second Incident: Motorcycle Collision on NH-727
In a separate accident the same night near Englishia on National Highway-727, a speeding vehicle collided with a motorcycle carrying two men. The impact killed 68-year-old Ghuthan Mahato on the spot. His companion, Sudama Yadav, sustained grave injuries and was rushed to Bettiah Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he remains in serious condition. The vehicle involved in this collision also fled the scene.

The Bagaha Police have registered FIRs in both cases and intensified patrols on major roads. Investigations are actively underway, with officers gathering witness statements and forensic evidence to identify the responsible vehicles.
