Flipkart Gemini Shopping: Google Tests Buying Products Through AI in India
Flipkart Gemini shopping is entering a new testing phase in India, as Google explores a way for users to discover and buy selected Flipkart products through Gemini and AI Mode.
The test could change how Indian shoppers search for products online. Instead of moving between search results and shopping websites, users can now see selected Flipkart products within Google’s AI-powered shopping experience. The feature currently has limited availability and does not cover every Flipkart product.

How Flipkart Gemini Shopping Works
Users searching for products through Gemini or Google’s AI Mode may see Flipkart listings alongside other shopping results. For selected products, Google displays a Buy button. Tapping the option takes shoppers into a Flipkart-branded checkout experience.
The current test covers products such as smartphones, electronics and mobile accessories. Google has not yet made the feature available to every Indian user. Some users may therefore see the regular Flipkart product listing without the new purchase option.
Google Plans a Wider Test
Google plans to expand the shopping experience more broadly in October, according to recent reporting. The timing comes ahead of India’s major festive shopping period, when online retailers typically see strong consumer demand.
Google has already introduced AI shopping tools in India that help users discover products, compare prices and find retailers. The Flipkart test adds another step by connecting Google’s AI search experience more closely with an e-commerce checkout.
The company has not confirmed the full list of products that will support the feature or whether Google will eventually make the purchase option available to all users.
What This Means for Indian Shoppers
The Flipkart integration could make online shopping more conversational. Users could ask Gemini to find products, compare available options and then move toward purchasing without following a traditional search journey.
For now, however, Flipkart Gemini shopping remains a limited test. The experience may change before Google expands it to a larger audience.
A wider rollout could also show whether Indian shoppers prefer buying products through AI assistants or continue using traditional e-commerce apps and websites.
