Pregnant Delhi Police SWAT Commando Murdered by Husband in Brutal Attack
A horrific case of domestic violence has shocked the nation after 27-year-old Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal Chaudhary, who was four months pregnant, was allegedly murdered by her husband in their West Delhi home. The brutal attack on January 22, 2026, led to her death five days later, highlighting grave issues of domestic violence and dowry harassment.
The Chilling Attack and Fatal Injuries
According to the victim’s brother, Constable Nikhil, he was on the phone with Kajal when her husband, Ankur Chaudhary (a Defence Ministry clerk), began attacking her. Ankur reportedly told Nikhil to record the call, declaring, “I am killing your sister,” before Kajal’s screams were heard. Police allege Ankur slammed Kajal’s head against a door frame and then repeatedly struck her with a heavy dumbbell, causing catastrophic injuries. She succumbed in a Ghaziabad hospital on January 27.
Allegations of Sustained Dowry Harassment
Kajal’s family has detailed a pattern of abuse and escalating dowry demands. Despite spending approximately ₹20 lakh on the wedding and gifts—including a Bullet motorcycle, gold, and cash—her in-laws allegedly continued to demand more, even during her pregnancy. Her father stated the harassment persisted despite later arranging a car, with taunts that her husband “would have got a car” if he had married someone else.
Victim’s Background and Aftermath
Kajal, originally from Haryana, was a proud member of the all-women Delhi Police SWAT team, fulfilling her mother’s aspirations. She is survived by her 1.5-year-old son, now in the care of her parents. The murder of both mother and unborn child has devastated her family, colleagues, and the community.

Police Investigation and Legal Action
The Mohan Garden police have registered a case, upgrading charges against Ankur to murder and dowry harassment. Investigators are examining financial disputes and prior domestic tensions. The case has sparked widespread outrage, with calls for stricter enforcement of laws protecting women, especially those in uniform, from domestic abuse.
This tragedy underscores the urgent need to address domestic violence and dowry crimes, even within the families of those sworn to protect others.
